For estates & gated communities in Kenya

Know Who Is at Your Gate.

Mlinzi registers residents and visitors, alerts you by SMS when guests arrive and puts help one tap away. Paper registers out; a verifiable gate record in.

Free for residents. Estates are quoted per size and gates.

The gate problem

Three things every estate gate struggles with

Unknown visitors at the gate
Residents name their visitors in advance. Guards check name, phone and plate against a list, not a guess.
Slow entry and paper registers
Guards search by name, phone or plate and verify in seconds. Every entry is logged automatically.
No quick way to call for help
A preset distress SMS reaches trusted contacts and the guard line in one tap, plus a direct call to the gate.

How it works

From sign-up to a verified gate in four steps

  1. Residents register once

Each household joins under the estate's guard number: name, phone, house number, vehicle.

  2. Residents add visitors and taxis

Name, phone, plate and the day they're coming. Fundis and regular taxis can be reused in one tap.

  3. The guard verifies at the gate

Search, match, tap verify. The entry is logged with the time, automatically.

  4. The resident gets an instant SMS

"Your visitor Mama Njoroge entered at 10:32." Works on any phone, no data bundle needed.

What Mlinzi does

Six features, one calm gate

One-time resident registration

Each resident registers once under their estate's guard number. After that, the household is live in the system.

Visitor and taxi pre-registration

Add a guest or a taxi before they leave home. The guard sees a verified name, plate and expected time at the gate.

SMS alerts when a guest arrives

The moment a guard verifies your visitor, you get an SMS saying who has entered. No data bundle needed.

Preset distress SMS

One tap sends a preset distress message to your chosen contacts and the estate guard line.

Direct call to the guard

Call your estate's guard post from inside the app. No searching for numbers or old WhatsApp groups.

Fast search for guards

Guards search by name, phone, plate or house number and verify in seconds, right on the gate phone.

For estates & property managers

A searchable register your whole committee can trust

  • Digital register, not a paper book. Search any resident, visitor or entry by name, phone or plate.
  • Fewer disputes at the gate. The expected-visitors list ends "the owner sent me" arguments.
  • An audit trail. Every verification is time-stamped, so incidents can be traced.

How onboarding works for estates

Common questions

Asked most often

How do I install the Mlinzi app on my Android phone?installing

Go to the Download page on mlinziapp.com and tap the download button for the APK file. Your phone will ask you to allow installs from your browser. Allow it, open the downloaded file and tap Install. Always download the APK from mlinziapp.com only.

Is Mlinzi on Google Play or the App Store?installing

Mlinzi is working towards a Google Play listing. For now the verified download is the APK on our Download page, where we publish the version number and a SHA-256 checksum so you can confirm the file. There is no iOS version yet; iPhone users can join the waitlist on the Download page.

What is a guard number and where do I get one?registering

A guard number is the code your estate or property manager issues to link residents to the estate's register. Ask your caretaker, residents' association or property manager for it. Mlinzi cannot register you without it.

I forgot or lost my guard number. What do I do?registering

Contact your estate's caretaker or residents' association chairperson first; they hold the number. If the estate cannot help, use the Report a Problem page or call the Mlinzi support line and we will verify the estate contact.
