estates
What does an estate need to start using Mlinzi?
A guard number for the estate, a list of residents (name, house number, phone), and an Android phone at the gate for the guards. Mlinzi handles set-up and trains the guards. Book a demo and we will walk your committee through it.
How much does Mlinzi cost for an estate?
Pricing depends on the size of the estate and the number of gates and units, so we quote per estate rather than publish one price. Use the Get a Quote form on the Pricing page and we will respond with a written quote.

How does a guard verify a visitor at the gate?
The guard opens Mlinzi on the gate phone, searches the visitor's name, phone or plate, checks the details the resident entered, and taps Verify. The entry time is logged and the resident gets the arrival SMS straight away.
installing
How do I install the Mlinzi app on my Android phone?
Go to the Download page on mlinziapp.com and tap the download button for the APK file. Your phone will ask you to allow installs from your browser. Allow it, open the downloaded file and tap Install. Always download the APK from mlinziapp.com only.
Is Mlinzi on Google Play or the App Store?
Mlinzi is working towards a Google Play listing. For now the verified download is the APK on our Download page, where we publish the version number and a SHA-256 checksum so you can confirm the file. There is no iOS version yet; iPhone users can join the waitlist on the Download page.

What data does Mlinzi collect about me and my visitors?
Residents: name, phone, house number, vehicle registration and guard number. Visitors: name, phone and plate as entered by the resident, plus entry times logged by the guard. The Data Protection page explains who can see it, how long it is kept and how to ask for a copy or deletion.
How do I delete my data or my visitor's data?
Use the self-service Data Deletion page on this site, or ask your estate administrator. We verify your identity against the registered phone number, then remove the records and confirm by SMS. We state a response time on the deletion page.
registering
What is a guard number and where do I get one?
A guard number is the code your estate or property manager issues to link residents to the estate's register. Ask your caretaker, residents' association or property manager for it. Mlinzi cannot register you without it.
I forgot or lost my guard number. What do I do?
Contact your estate's caretaker or residents' association chairperson first; they hold the number. If the estate cannot help, use the Report a Problem page or call the Mlinzi support line and we will verify the estate contact.
Can more than one person in my household register?
Yes. Each adult in the household can register their own account under the same estate guard number, with their own phone number. Visitors added by any member of the household appear under the same house number.
safety
How does the distress SMS work?
During registration you pick up to three trusted contacts. Tapping the distress button sends them and the estate guard line a preset SMS with your name and house number. It is not a substitute for emergency services: in a life-threatening emergency call 999 or 112.
Does Mlinzi replace calling 999 or 112?
No. Mlinzi helps your estate and your trusted contacts respond quickly, but it does not replace police, ambulance or fire services. Always call 999 or 112 in an emergency, then use Mlinzi to alert the gate.
visitors
How do I add a visitor or a taxi?
Open the app, tap Add Visitor, and enter the visitor's name, phone number and vehicle or taxi plate, plus the date they are coming. Save it and the guard will see them on the expected-visitors list for that day.
My visitor arrived but I did not get an SMS. What happened?
Check that the guard marked the visitor as arrived and that the phone number on your resident profile is correct and in service. SMS can be delayed by the network for a few minutes. If it still does not arrive, report the problem through the app or the Report a Problem page.
Can a visitor come in if I did not pre-register them?
That depends on your estate's gate policy. Mlinzi shows the guard the expected list; unregistered visitors are handled the same way your estate handles them today, usually a call to the house or a manual entry.
