How it works
One system, three people: resident, visitor, guard
Here is the full Mlinzi flow, end to end. Each role sees only what they need.
The resident
-
Get the guard number
Your estate, caretaker or residents' association issues one guard number for the whole estate. You need it once, at registration.
-
Register your household
Download the app, enter the guard number, then your name, phone, house number and vehicle plate. Other adults in the house register under the same number.
-
Add visitors and taxis before they arrive
Name, phone, plate, date. A fundi who comes every Tuesday stays in your history — reuse them and set a new date instead of retyping.
-
Get the arrival SMS
When the guard verifies your visitor, you receive an SMS with their name and entry time — even without mobile data.
-
Reach help in one tap
The distress button sends your preset SMS to up to three trusted contacts and the guard line. The call button dials the gate directly.
The visitor
-
Give your host your details
Share your name, phone number and vehicle or taxi plate. Your host enters them in Mlinzi; you don't need the app yourself.
-
Arrive and give your name
Tell the guard your name or plate. They find you on the expected list, verify and wave you through. Your host is told immediately by SMS.
-
Your data is held by the estate register
Your details sit in the estate's Mlinzi register for that visit. You can ask for them to be removed — see the data deletion page.
The guard
-
Open the gate view
The guard phone shows today's expected visitors and a search bar. That's the whole screen — built for speed, not menus.
-
Search and match
Type part of a name, phone number or plate. The matching resident or visitor appears in under a second.
-
Verify and it's logged
Tap verify and the entry is time-stamped in the estate register, and the resident's SMS goes out. No book, no pen.
