Terms of Use

These terms govern the Mlinzi app and this website, operated by MlinziApp Company Ltd, Nairobi. By using Mlinzi you accept them.

1. Residents

  • Register only with the guard number issued to your estate, and keep your profile accurate.
  • Enter visitor details only for people actually coming to your home, and tell your visitors their details are in the register.
  • The distress SMS is for genuine emergencies. Misuse (repeated false triggers) may lead to suspension, because it endangers the people who would respond.

2. Estates and property managers

  • Provide an accurate resident list and keep it current.
  • Control who holds the guard number, and tell us promptly if a guard or administrator leaves.
  • Your estate owns its register data; Mlinzi processes it on your behalf.

3. Guards and security firms

  • Verify only what is in front of you: match the person to the record before tapping verify.
  • Keep the gate phone secured and logged in under the estate's account only.

4. Acceptable use

No scraping the register, no registering people who do not exist, no using Mlinzi to stalk or harass, no reverse-engineering or reselling the service. Breach of this section ends your access.

5. Emergencies — the important limit

Mlinzi is not an emergency service and does not replace one. In a life-threatening emergency call 999 or 112 first. The distress SMS goes to your chosen contacts and your gate; it does not guarantee a police or medical response.

6. Service availability

We aim for a reliable service but do not promise uninterrupted availability; SMS delivery also depends on your mobile network. Scheduled maintenance is announced through the app where possible.

7. Liability

To the extent the law allows, MlinziApp Company Ltd is not liable for losses arising from misuse of the app, network failures, or actions taken at an estate's gate. Nothing in these terms removes rights you have under Kenyan consumer or data-protection law.

8. Changes

We will post changes here with a new version number and, for material changes, tell registered users through the app.
